Huaxia is a fast-growing independent primary and middle school (ages 6 – 16) that has already gained a strong reputation in Yueyang. Although we provide a supportive environment for our teachers, we do maintain high standards, and require that teachers:
Are friendly, enthusiastic and warm
Plan lessons carefully, making sure they are both engaging and helpful to the students
Possess a Bachelor’s degree
Possess a TEFL qualification
Are native speakers (i.e. resident in the USA, Canada, the UK or South Africa)
Although Yueyang is a reasonably big city by Western standards, it is also easy to get to know. There are friendly communities of both foreign and English speaking Chinese who we will be happy to introduce you to.
Yueyang is only half an hour away from the provincial capital, Changsha, and six hours by train from Beijing. One of China’s greatest natural wonders, the epic rock towers of Zhangjiajie (made famous by Avatar!) are also located in the same province, as well as other incredible sites, such as the famous glass bridge of Shiniuzhai. Wuhan, a bustling student city with one of China’s oldest and most beautiful universities, is also an hour away. In short, life in Yueyang will give you the chance to experience “real” China whilst also providing a great base to explore the more internationally famous destinations.
